Spectacular Sri Lanka 7 Days
Day 1 Negombo Arrival
Meet our representative upon arriving at Bandaranaike International Airport and transfer to your hotel. Enjoy a welcome cocktail during a boat ride in the Negombo Lagoon in the evening and learn more about the details of the trip from your tour guide.
Depending upon your arrival time, you will go out on a city tour of Negambo either today or tomorrow.
Day 2 Negombo to Habarana
Check out of your hotel after breakfast and transfer to Habarana. In case the Negombo city tour was not organized yesterday, it will be carried out today.
The optional activity on today’s itinerary is an evening jeep safari trip in either Minneriya or Kaudulla National Park. These national parks, both of which are located in Habarana, are the best places in the country to see huge herds of wild elephants.
Day 3 Habarana
Head for the famous rock fortress of Sigiriya. This ancient rock fortress and palace ruin in central Dambulla is surrounded by the remains of an extensive network of gardens, reservoirs, and other structures.
A popular tourist destination, Sigiriya is also famous for its ancient wall paintings (frescos). Take a catamaran ride in a lake, which is home to a variety of birds. Across the lake is a village where you will visit a local’s home to learn more about their life.
Try your hands at preparing some delicious Sri Lankan dishes and enjoy them afterwards.
Day 4 Habarana to Kandy
Check out of your hotel and drive to Kandy after breakfast. En route is the Dambulla Cave Temple, which comprises 5 caves and a picturesque facade carved into the side of a steep rock face. This cave temple houses ancient paintings depicting the life of the Buddha and his life.
Your next destination on today’s itinerary is an Ayurvedic village, where you will get the chance to learn more about the herbs and spices produced in the country.
Reach Kandy, a city nestled amidst verdant hills from where flows the Mahaweli River. The beautiful Kandy Lake acts as a centrepiece of this city.
See some of the major sights of the city before joining your tour guide for a visit to batik and a wood-carving centre. Learn more about the local arts and crafts scene. Be it pottery, intricately carved spoons, lacquer and silverware, or finely cut gems, you are likely to find them in Kandy.
Day 5 Kandy to Nuwara Eliya
Travel to Nuwara Eliya, a city in the tea country located in the central hills of Sri Lanka, after breakfast. Visit a tea plantation and get the chance to learn more about the famous Ceylon Tea.
Dress in traditional Sri Lankan attire next, sarees for women and sarongs for men, and head for the plantation with experienced tea pluckers who will teach you the art of picking tea leaves.
Return to the tea factory, where the chief tea taster will take a look at your efforts and explain the process of preparing the final product from the green leaves. Enjoy a city tour of Nuwara Eliya before travelling to Kandy.
Day 6 Colombo
Check out of your hotel in Kandy and travel to the sacred Temple of the Tooth which is said to be home to the tooth relic of Lord Buddha on the way. Transfer to Colombo after that.
Colombo, the trade and commercial capital of Sri Lanka as well as its largest city, is located on the country’s west coast and draws together people from a variety of cultures, religions and backgrounds, all of whom have left their imprint on the city.
A less-known truth about Colombo is that the city is a foodie’s delight since it has a large number of restaurants serving delicious food, as well as home to some amazing shopping destinations, like the Ceylon Ceramics Corporation, famous for its Noritake brand of ceramic goods.
Day 7 Colombo Departure
Time to head home. Travel to Bandaranayake International Airport for your onward journey.
